Easter Traditions

We've taken a lot of pictures in the last couple of days so I'm sure there will be more postings to come but I thought I would start with a couple of Easter traditions. My mom used to always make these bunny cakes for Easter and I always thought they were fun. I remember making them in college and now I made a couple for some friends so I thought I would share them.

Then of course, the dying of the eggs. Sadly, Brent and I have had four Easter's together and this is the first time we've died eggs together. He's kind of an amateur egg dyer and didn't even know the rubber band trick. He tried being creative by using tin foil and sand paper but didn't have too much luck so stuck to more traditional methods. We did have a good time though.

Also in my house growing up, the Easter Bunny came on Saturday. That way, you can find your baskets, play with your toys, and find and hide your eggs time and time again without restriction. Having early church kind of limits these activities so we moved it to Saturday and have a two day Easter celebration. That also leaves Sunday to really talk about and appreciate the real meaning of Easter and the resurrection of our Savior. I like the idea so we implemented it this year.

Morgan's basket was hidden in the middle of the living room floor and she had no problem finding it.She went straight for the book. Thanks Grandma for filling Morgan's basket. Brent found his basket in about 30 seconds and with much help from Brent, I finally found mine. (The Easter Bunny told him where it was hidden because he knows I'm not a very good searcher.)

For those of you who have been following our blog, you'll notice the McClard's BBQ sauce Brent talked about in our last posting. The Easter bunny must have brought it all the way from Hot Springs, or maybe he just found out they sell it at Kroger. We hope you all have a wonderful and meaningful Easter.
